Quarter Water

Vancouver's own Matty C just put out a new EP "Quarter Water Vol 1" with Ayres from The RUB! This is their debut release from Me & Him Productions' Quarter Water series, "the first in a series of dance and club music edits and remixes." Ayres tackles "dance edits" on his side, which features the Salt N Pepa / Josh Wink combo "Push It Higher," Reel 2 Reel against 2 Live Crew on "Face Down," and "Get Down," with a sample off Bobmo & Surkin's recent High-Powered Boys project. On the "house edits" side, Matty C does his thing to Inner City's "Good Life," "Sooo Real" and Ralphie Rosario's "You Used To."

Locally you can pick up their release at
Beatstreet Records, or online at TurntableLab..

Come party with Matty C along side myself (DJ Marvel) Every Friday for City life Fridays at Barnone.

Check the player below for DJ Arey's "Get Down" guaranteed to fit in and hype up your house set.

PB Wolf

Yesterday the Freshest Kids had the chance to check out Peanut butter wolf for a Video SL Demo which was part of the RedBull Music Academy. It was super informative and he played some cool shit. His take on the video set is a little different than others ie Mike Relm. PB Wolf's sets are based around playing eclectic and "rare" video's that not everyone else has. vs a turntablist skill heavy performance. He did a cool themed section of drum breaks using a scene from Rockers, some old Stevie on the drums and tons of others.. At the club (republic) I thought he held it down. It was kinda strange to have people dancing while all facing forward looking up at the screens but that's expected... Im all for Video DJing in the right setting, regularly at a club I think no no but festivals or opening for performers is ideal.

This last week just flew by and now all of a sudden its november. I thought i'd get it started with a bit of a re cap... So,
Madonna came to town and we had an awesome after party which also happened to be the after party for the ALIFE 3 year anniversary. so i guess it was the "after, after party" Rico, Nina, Cherchez and I played that and then Utern, Seko, Mike and I played shine. Everyone Killed it and it was alot of fun. thanks to Everyone for coming out!
Then of course Halloween was crazy! Friday i played at shine with Rico and Nina. I went as Greaser (pony boy). I saw lots of cool costumes too. Big up to Bender!!!
The GoodLife Sunday was again amazing(even more so because i thought everybody would be sleeping!) Props to anyone who made it out. Thats commitment
This Week, Keys N Krates are gonna be in town (thurs at the cellar) and In Victoria (fri), which is still recovering from the awesome party Marvel played there saturday!
And this Sat is the Grand opening of the STUSSY Vancouver Chapter(flyer above)! Come down for some free drinks and you'll likely hear all these tunes.....

Peace!
